ABOUT "LITTLE HOUSE"
Little
House Piano Studio is my home studio and has been welcoming students
since 1993, although I have been teaching
privately since
1987. Private students of Little House working the music room on a
6-foot Mason and Hamlin grand piano and a Yamaha P80 keyboard with
the Sibelius composing program. Performance classes for private students
and presentations for the keyboard classes are held in this room on
the Mason and Hamlin.
Beginner
keyboard classes are held in a separate studio on the Little House
grounds. Here there is enough room for students to dance
and drum and
work
on their own keyboard. This studio is equipped with eight keyboards,
drums, chimes, resonator bars and instruments to accommodate parents
and siblings during the parent-time portion of the keyboard class.
At
present, Little House Piano Studio has students who range in age from
six to seventy. Private classes and beginner keyboard classes are held
Monday through Friday, in the morning, afternoon and evening.
About Me
My life as a musician began over 30 years ago when I took my first
piano lesson. Along the way, I studied the flute and voice and participated
in choral, band and orchestral activities, but I always maintained
the piano as my primary instrument.
My love of playing music brought me to SUNY Purchase where I received
a Bachelor of Fine Arts in piano performance. I continued my studies
at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, earning a Masters
of Music. I have completed my classroom work to earn a Doctor of Musicology
from CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.
In addition to school, I studied in New York City with renowned
pianist Eleanor Hancock, one of the founding members of the Taubmann
Institute of Piano.
I am currently co-chairperson for the New York State Music Teachers'
Association, District 4; chairperson for the Young Originals student
composition project, sponsored by NYSMTA, District 4; and composition
competition coordinator for the State of New York Music Teachers' Association.
I am an active member of
MTNA (Music Teachers National
Association);

NGPT (National Guild of Piano Teachers)

and a certified Musikgarten Instructor.

As Music Director of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
in Brewster, NY, I direct two choirs (adult and children), and provide
both organ and piano music for services. In addition, with colleagues
I perform four-hand and two-piano repertoire regularly throughout the
greater New York City area.

I look forward to sharing the magic of music with you at LITTLE
HOUSE PIANO STUDIO!
